Google Making Moves in Web3
🤝 Google announced a partnership with Coinbase to accept Crypto payments for their cloud services. The search giant also added the ability for users to Google details on Ethereum wallet addresses. FTX linked up with Visa for a debit card linked to your Crypto holdings. One failed web3 move this week to cover was CNN pulling the plug on their NFT Vault program.
Capital Raised
Money Continues to Flow into Web3
💰 Web3 decentralized social protocol DeSo pocketed $200MM in funding this week. Blockchain data startup nxyz added $40MM in new capital. Rye closed a $14MM raise for ecommerce tools. Restaurant onchain loyalty program Blackbird raised $11MM to fund their expansion.
Hacks and Legal Action
Two More Big Crypto Losses
⚖️ The Binance BNB chain was the victim of a massive $570MM hack, one of the largest in industry history. Hackers also got over $100MM from the Mango DeFi platform. A terrible week indeed. Crypto markets were also unsettled by a Bloomberg report that the SEC is investigating market leader Yuga Labs for possible securities law violations. The U.S. Treasury fined Bittrex $29MM for errors under the Bank Secrecy Act.
